Optimized silicone without PS2 compatibility in the nude

Our buddy
Rob, from Network News Journal, snapped a couple of photos of the latest PS3 revision, revealing the streamlined design of the new board.

According to RAMBUS, the new revision isn't just smaller, it's been heavily optimized for superior performance and better energy efficiency. We have to note that the new revision lacks the PS2 emulation chip found on previous versions.

The new board looks a lot smaller and sleeker, and if there's one thing the PS3 could do without, it's the bulk.

You can find the pics here.
