Probably netbookish, on January 9th

Sony has
put up one of those annoying teaser sites with a countdown to January 9th, the launchdate of the new Vaio, here. The outfit claims it will "forever change the way you look at notebooks" with the new Vaio, but leaves much room for speculation, as the site only contains a cloeseup of the piano black lid with a Vaio logo.

Sony is one of few vendors not to launch a netbook, so it's quite logical that the new Vaio will indeed be a netbook. There were very few leaks about the upcoming product, so it's quite hard to know for sure. Some sources, citing FCC leaks, indicate that it might in fact be one of the smallest netbooks out there, measuring just 9.5 x 4.5-inches.

So far, Sony has done well to keep it under wraps, but we will probably know more as CES draws near.
