OCZ announces eSATA flash drive |

90MB/s read speeds
It seems like the latest fad among flash drive manufacturers is eSATA drives and although we're not going to complain about it, we're just wondering how long it will last with USB 3.0 on the horizon. OCZ's Throttle is the fastest one we've seen so far and it offers faster read speeds than some budget SSD drives.
OCZ has also fitted a mini USB port at the rear of the drive, just in case for those moments when you find yourself in front of a computer without eSATA. However, the performance drops dramatically when you move from eSATA to USB 2.0, as the Throttle offers 90MB/s read speeds over eSATA, but OCZ hasn't even posted any figures on how fast it is over USB, just stating that "when used in USB mode, speeds will vary" which doesn't say very much.
Write speeds are rated at 30MB/s which seems somewhat slow, but it's the same as the Kanguru drive we told you about a while back. The Throttle will be available in 8, 16 and 32GB configurations and comes with a two year warranty. No pricing or release date was revealed.
