Cats rejoice

Logitech has proudly announced that it has produced the company's billionth mouse.

The one billionth rodent rolled off the assembly lines in Suzhou, China, in mid-November. Logitech has launched a global competition to find the mouse, promising a $1,000 reward to the winner. It will post clues about its location on the company blog.

In a week's time, the mouse will celebrate its 40th birthday. The first operational unit was tested by a group of Stanford University researchers back on December 9th, 1968.

Analysts wouldn't be analysts if they didn't have something to say about this milestone. Gartner analyst Steve Prentice claims the mouse will no longer be mainstream in three to five years. However, Prentice failed to mention what's going to replace it. A guinea pig, perhaps?
