3 to 5 percent worldwide

According to Chinese Apple Daily, BenQ has sacked 3 to 5 percent of its 1,700 strong workforce.

Benq claims the move is a part of its annual evaluation and that the laid off staff will get their end-of-year bonuses. The company will not hire new people to replace the unfortunate ones.

This is just the latest in a series of layoffs announced by various vendors and manufacturers and we're bound to see even more bad news in coming weeks and months.
