Steve will never approve

Hackers are
falling over themselves to make the iPhone boot with a Linux 2.6 kernel.

The first successful kernel porting was made on Linux on the iPhone blog, complete with instructions and source code. It is not quite complete yet. A bootloader, kernel and a Busybox terminal are able to be loaded but most of the iPhone features will not run. Touchscreen, sound, accelerometer and networking do not work.

You also have to connect to the beast via a USB interface from another device. However, it is starting to look like the hackers are getting there. One thing that Steve Jobs does not understand is that if he gets too successful, there will be people that want to make his proprietary toy work their way and not his.
