At IDF Taiwan, Intel spoke of the significance and impact the Internet and mobile Web have had on people’s lives, and proudly demonstrated Moorestown. This MID platform is scheduled for 2009-2010 timeframe, and the platform was fully operational.

Moorestown is made with the “Lincroft” SOC, which packs the 45nm processor, graphics, memory controller and video encode/decode on a single chip and the “Langwell” I/O hub that should support a number of I/O ports for all kinds of uses.

Apparently, Intel is also working on slashing idle power consumption to a tenth of what Intel Atom first-gen MIDs consumed in the past.

Intel claims Moorestown will support wireless technologies such as 3G, WiMAX, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and mobile TV. They also announced they plan on working with Ericsson to develop HSPA data modules that will be optimized for Moorestown.
