With 8400 GS PCI

Following in the footsteps of Albatron, which has recently announced its trio of Geforce 8-series PCI cards, Sparkle has also decided that there is still some life in the PCI market. Unlike Albatron, which has announced a total of three cards, Sparkle has decided to play it safe with a single Geforce 8400GS card.

The new Sparkle 8400GS will be available in two versions and the only difference is in the type of cooling which they will be using. The first one, the SF-PC84GS256U2LP will be cooled by a small fan while the second one will have a passive heatsink which will cover most of the low profile PCB.

Both will be clocked at 576MHz for the core and both will come with 512MB of DDR2 memory clocked at 800MHz. As on all other 8400GS cards the memory interface on these two cards will also be limited to 64-bit. Unlike Albatron's 8500 and 8600 cards that come with a native HDMI port, the 8400GS from Sparkle will have a rather conservative approach, as the card will only have DVI, D-Sub and TV-out connectors.

The card does, of course, come with support for DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0, and the lack of an HDMI connector can easily be fixed by a DVI to HDMI adapter.
