And 1GB HD 4850

It appears as if Asus was in too much of a hurry to announce its Radeon HD 4870 cards, as AMD hasn't given the go-ahead quite yet. Asus will offer two different bundles, but both will come with the same model of card.

The two options consist of the EAH4870/HTDI/512M and the EAH4870/G/HTDI/512M, the only difference being that the latter comes bundled with Alone in the Dark (the 2008 version). Both cards come with a "special" bundle, which consists of a leather mouse mat.

The card is clocked at 750MHz for the GPU and the GDDR5 memory is clocked at 900MHz, which gives a bandwidth of 3.6Gb/s (not GHz as in the Asus press release). There's no mention of Shader clocks and the cards uses the standard reference design. Both cards come with a DVI to HDMI dongle as well as a component video out cable.

Asus also officially announced its 1GB Radeon HD 4850 card which is clocked at the standard reference speeds of 625MHz for the GPU with the GDDR3 memory at 993MHz (1,986MHz effectively). The major difference here, apart from the extra memory, is the fact that Asus has added its Glaciator heatsink instead of the reference cooler, making this a dual slot card.
