Blame Canada

Connect 3D used to be a quite well known ATI brand and we’ve learned that the brand is coming back after some difficulties. The brand has a new owner and these guys are reluctant to sell ATI cards and make as much money as possible and ex-Connect 3D people went for ATI or Sapphire positions.

ATI has Sapphire very close to its heart and Sapphire is out of the league. Except PowerColor, who is reasonable enough, there are not many big “graphics-only” names to sell ATI graphics card.

Therefore, ATI relies on big motherboard manufacturers such as Asus, MSI and Gigabyte who sell quite a lot of these cards and at the end math adds up.

We’ve also learned that there will be a new brand embracing ATI GPUs “something” 3D, but we have to ask around about the exact brand. We can confirm that the new brand is coming, we just need to find out the name. We just found out that the new partner / brand is Force3D.

As for Connect 3D, it is French company who hopes to do well, and good old Connect 3D was British, if that makes any difference.
