Calibre style

Sparkle has decided to upgrade its P960 and P960G Calibre cards with its third generation of the graphics display port, called GBOX, which was previously implemented directly on the graphics card. Unlike the previous two generations, where the little display was placed directly on the card's PCB, Sparkle decided that it was time to move it away from the card and on to a 5.25-inch bay, making it similar to Asus's OC Gear.

We wrote about these cards back when they were announced and the specs are still the same. The core works at 700MHz and the cards come with 512MB/1GB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 2,000MHz/1,800MHz. The 512MB version has the higher Shader clock of 1,850MHz, and the Shaders on the 1GB version ended up clocked at 1,800MHz.

The third generation of the GDP fits in the 5.25-inch drive bay and it connects to the graphics card with a simple cable. It can display the GPU temperature, GPU voltage and the fan speed. The GBOX adds a bit more value to the Calibre card family. We just hope that it won't increase the price as well.
