Even before Computex

The first pictures of the HD 4850 have resurfaced even before the actual Computex show had started. The first pictures are showing a reference card coming directly from ATI itself, the other is a leaked picture of HIS's HD 4850 in its full glory, at least their part of the glory, as it features the same reference design.

The reference HD 4850 can easily be replaced for the HD 3850 as they practically look identical, except for the different fan design and a slightly different heatsink. The card still has the same wavy cooler design, a single PCI-Express power connector and a red PCB.

This card will use the well-known GDDR3 memory, so nothing is interesting there. Everybody is waiting for the HD 4870, which will use that new and improved GDDR5 memory.

You can check out the reference card pictures at Bit-tech.net here, and the HIS card shot and the box shot can be found over at Hardware-aktuell.com here.

Here are the comparative pictures of the HD 3850 and the HD 4850, both coming from HIS.
