Yesterday Nvidia launched a new chip, or to be more specific, a new mobile phone cellular applications processor, which they call APX 2500.

This is a 750MHz ARM 11 based processor with 256kb of L2 cache with integrated graphics and an image processor, all neatly packed in a small chip manufactured at 65nm. We wrote about the little feller's specs here. As for the implementation of this chip, Nvidia has plans to get this little chip in mobile phones, personal navigation devices (PND) and personal media players (PMP).

The PND and PMP devices based on the new chip should hit the shelves by the end of this year or in early 2009. If you're looking for a mobile phone based on the new chip, you're out of luck since things are a bit more complicated. ODMs should implement the APX 2500 sometime in the mid 2009 and larger OEMs should start using it in late 2009.
