XFX has announced a new graphics card in its Fatal1ty series, the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB Fatal1ty. The card comes with a nice red color sticker. We mention the sticker because the new card is based on the reference design.
The card is based on Nvidia's G80 GPU with 96 Stream processors. The interesting part is the clock speeds of the new Fatal1ty card, as they're close to those of the 8800 Ultra. The core ended up at 650 MHz, with the 320MB of GDDR3 memory working at 2GHz with a 320-bit memory bus. The shaders are clocked at 1500MHz. The 2GHz memory clock along with the 320-bit memory bus is enough to give the card 80 Gb/sec of memory bandwidth.
The new 8800 GTS Fatal1ty won't get anywhere near the 8800 Ultra in performance, but with these clocks it will easily beat any other 8800 GTS on the market. XFX claims 30 percent higher performance over a standard 8800 GTS.
As the entire GeForce 8 series, the new Fatal1ty graphics card also features support for DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0. The card features two dual-link DVI connectors, and TV out. The lowest price in Europe that we could find is €329. Alternate.de will have it for €349, but the card is not in stock at the moment.
