Analyst claims

In an
interview with Industry Gamers, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter shared his views on the times ahead. Among other things, he shared his views on Nintendo’s future announcements.

He anticipates that Nintendo will launch something new in “the fall”, and that it should have “the memory and controls of a DS and the fun motion sensing chip included in the iPod Touch”. He says how it’s “unlike Nintendo to go this long without a gameplay innovation” and how the company is likely to announce something within the next twelve to eighteen months. He says how the motion sensing technology, which was recently (kinda) confirmed and unconfirmed again, is pretty logical “given the success of the iPod Touch as a gaming device”.

When asked what will be the biggest surprise for the game industry in this year, however, Pachter said “I think the biggest surprise will be the introduction of the Wii HD.” Well, we guess we’ll see “soon” enough.
