Now that’s a smart phone

RIM launched
its new Dual Mode BlackBerry 8820 phone today, and this new model is truly a smart phone, it can operate on both cellular and Wi-Fi networks.

AT&T will be the carrier premiering the BlackBerry 8820, and RIM indicated that the 8820 will be available for purchase before the end of this summer.  RIM is hoping that this model will catch on with the retail crowd and has loaded it with the latest consumer grabbing media, video and camera enhancements.

The BlackBerry 8820 will complement BlackBerry’s partner carriers' cellular networks by giving 8820 users the ability to stay connected via Wi-Fi at home, corporate locations and hotspots.
