They show us how bad things will be

Former
US Vice President and environmental crusader Al Gore believes supercomputers could do more to help reverse global warming.

Gore gave a keynote at the Supercomputer 2009 conference and laid out several ideas for harnessing the number crunching potential of these behemoths. Gore believes advanced simulations and visualization tools helped efforts to reduce the emission of gases harmful to the ozone layer.

Gore hopes supercomputer simulations will allow scientists better understand the impact of global warming and work out ways to mitigate its effects.

"The real challenge, here, is to make the climate crisis tangible to everyone, which can be accomplished with supercomputing modeling and simulations," said Gore. Basically, supercomputer simulations that show us the future could prompt people to act sooner, especially people whose pricey beach houses could turn into fish sanctuaries in a few decades.

Of course we understand and support Gore when it comes to climate change. He has lost Florida once already, so we're hoping he's learned his lesson and won't let the Glades turn into beach property.
