Already being pushed out to consoles

We told you about the Facebook support that Sony had planned for the PS3 earlier in the week, with our guess that it would arrive before the end of the year. Sony seems to have pulled a bit of a head fake; and the new 3.10 firmware update for the PS3 complete with Facebook support from within the XMB is already being pushed out to consoles.

The surprise quick arrival could mean that Sony was aiming to steal some of Microsoft’s thunder from their system update, which also included Facebook support. According to our moles, Sony decided to move quickly to narrow the gap between the social networking support offered by Microsoft on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 before the holiday buying season gets into full swing.

In addition to the Facebook support we also hear that the 3.10 firmware update also includes improvements and a revamp to access and see more of your photos that you have stored on your PlayStation 3. Sony has taken all of the feedback that users have provided about the PSN Friends List and has made some changes that were first introduced with the 3.0 update. Users will now have the ability to choose the color of their PSN ID on the XMB.

All we can say is that we wish that more updates would come as quickly as this one did.
