We admitt it. We're a bit spoiled, so we tend to write about the
hottest and fastest hardware around. However, we're also cheap, and
like to spend more money on our bar tabs than on our hardware, hence we
like Kingston's new 40GB SSD.
Basically the SSDNow V Series 40GB Boot Drive is a no thrills, value
drive that will leave quite a bit of money in your pocket. It's based
on 34nm MLC NAND and it delivers 170MB/s read and 40MB/s write speeds.
This is plenty, considering its MSRP is $115, and it even gets better
if you get it with some rebates, as it could end up costing you as low
as $85.
Sounds like a pretty nice choice for a system drive if you can't afford
pricey high performance SSDs, but still don't want a mechanical drive
spinning your OS all over the place.
