The NAND flash and DRAM sectors have recovered in the
second half of 2009 after an industry glut eased and chip prices
rebounded.
According to figures from A-Data Technology the industry
is starting to look good for the next couple of years. A-Data said that the memory sector is expected to return
to its 2006 or 2007 level in 2010.
Growth in regions like China and India will be the next
growth driver. A-Data said that only Samsung Electronics has the
financial capability to procure enough immersion facilities for 50nm-class
production. It does not think there will be an oversupply of chips in 2010, as
new capacity will be limited due to suppliers' financial strains. A-Data plans to be most profitable among Taiwan-based
memory module companies in 2010.
It wants to expand into India, Russia, Brazil and Mexico,
and expects sales generated from the emerging markets to grow significantly in
2010, reports
DigiTimes.
