Rocket Knight Adventures next to get make over

It seems that Konami likes the response to its efforts to revive old titles in their archives by breathing new life into them on a new platform. The company has dabbled in the download releases by bringing out Contra and Gradius already. With Castlevania already announced, the company has let it out of the bag that Rocket Knight Adventures will be next in line to get a makeover for release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and on the PC via Steam.

Rocket Knight will be getting a total graphics makeover, while staying with the 2D look and feel that gamers will remember from the original release. Sources tell us that it will feature s lush 3D environment that will pop off the screen, giving the armored opossum Sparkster a real chance to shine. The new adventure is set 15 years after the last adventure, according to our sources.

Rocket Knight Adventures was one of the best Konami efforts for the Sega Genesis platform that was quite popular and spawned two additions to the franchise. The new version will be developed by Climax Studios in the UK; and from what we hear it will be the same development team that worked on the Silent Hill stuff. No official release date has been announced yet, but it is likely it will release at some point next year.
