Toshiba shows new 1.8-inch HDDs

Up to 160GB

Toshiba has rolled out a new family of 1.8-inch hard drives for those portable media players and other consumer electronics products with a capacity of up to 160GB.

The new line 1.8-inch drives feature a single platter and will be available in 60, 80, 120 and 160GB capacities and will spin at 4,200 RPM, a speed that's common for these types of drives. It has a 15ms of average seek time and uses PATA interface.

According to Toshiba, the 160GB part is already available while other models should enter production during this month.
