Servers will be no more after January 6th

Sega has now officially announced that it will be pulling the plug on the Chromehounds servers for online play on January 6th, 2010. While online play will be at an end, the game can still be played in the offline modes.

The news likely is likely not that big of a deal, since the game was released in the summer of 2006 and has been around for almost 3 ½ years. From the whispers that we have been hearing lately on the Xbox front, Chromehounds will not be the last game that will lose its online play in 2010.

A number of other titles from around the same time period are likely to have their server plug pulled throughout next year. According to what we hear, it has become just too costly to justify keeping servers online for a diminishing user base as titles grow older. While rumors continue as to which titles are the likely candidates to lose their servers, it seems more often than not the news goes unnoticed to the majority of Xbox 360 owners, as those playing these games stopped playing them a long time ago.
