We already wrote about MSI's new series of power efficient Wind
netbooks with extended battery life. Dubbed U115 Hybrid and U110 ECO,
the new pair of netbooks is based on Z530 Atom CPUs which should offer
vastly superior battery life compared to N270/945 based units.
The U115 also boasts hybrid storage. Apart from the regular 160GB HDD,
it packs an 8GB SSD which allows it to power down the HDD and save some
juice. The ECO version relies solely on the HDD, but at least it ends
up quite a bit cheaper.
Here's where things get quite ugly, as even the ECO is priced at
€489,
while the U115 Hybrid is listed at
€619. This sounds too steep
for such a netbook, and we think they will sell for quite a bit less once they hit the shelves.
There's still no word on availability, but we'll try to find out more and update the story later in the day.
