95 percent of all music downloads are illegal

According to
a recent report by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, as many as 95 percent of all music downloads are illegal. Obviously, this doesn't come as much surprise.

Legal downloads have jumped 25 percent over the past year, and is now worth around $3.7 billion a year. This, however, was nowhere near enough to make an impact on the overall statistics, and music revenues worldwide dropped by 7 percent.

The IFPI blames a spike in music downloads for slowing CD sales, but fails to mention the good old CD is, well, old and obsolete. The digital download business has been growing steadily over the past several years, but for some strange reason consumers still prefer to get their music illegally, for free.
