But where is the green Apple?

Panasonic, Sharp and Toshiba have  announced a program to recycle the televisions and other gadgets they sell in the United States. Using the Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management network of 280 locations as collection centres for their products, they promise to do something useful with the gear after it has died.

Sharp chief executive Doug Koshima said the three have continuously looked for ways to reduce impact on the environment and had created an electronics recycling program that achieves the dual objectives of being easy and convenient for consumers, while offering the industry a path to efficient, environmentally sound recycling.

US readers can find a list of recycle spots at MRMrecycling.com. However one wonders why Apple, which has been touting its green credentials at MacWorld this week, has not got involved in the programme. The outfit was tarred and featured again by Greenpeace for not doing more to get rid of toxic chemicals from its products.
