Silverstone announces Big-Tower Raven RV01

With Stack effect cooling

Silverstone has announced its new chassis, Raven RV01, and this one packs quite a few novelties, as the whole design of the case is aimed at improving the airflow.

The case features “stack effect” based cooling, which is a method where cold air enters at the bottom and hot air is being blown out at the top.

To improve cooling, the motherboard is rotated by 90°CW and the I/O panel is placed on the top. This might turn out to be nice, as it would nicely shield the cable forest on the back, but we’ll wait until we see it in practice, as we’re not sure whether it’ll introduce additional strain on the cables and/or motherboard ports.

Silverstone also incorporated positive air pressure ventilation that will, coupled with dust filters on all the fans, help keep your case dust free. The case has five 5.25-inch and six 3.5-inch bays and features a seriously tough build, so don’t expect you’ll be carrying it around.

The Raven RV01 is coming to Europe in December 2008, and the pricing might make it a serious contender as it will be priced at €159,- +VAT.
