Metal Gear Solid 4 boost profit over 90%

It has been a good year for Konami, the makers of the highly successful Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3. Konami revealed in their financial results for the last six-month period that profits are up 90.3 percent over the same period one year ago.

While the company didn’t specifically cite Metal Gear Solid 4 as the reason for the increase in revenue, they did say that they had shipped over 4.33 million copies from June 2008 to September 2008. While the game continues to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, some Xbox 360 owners continue to cling to rumors and suggestions that the company might be planning a conversion to the Xbox 360 platform, although the company still insists that there no plans to do so.

Konami says that sales are up on the PlayStation 3 platform in general from 1 percent of total sales to now almost 38 percent of the company’s revenue. Konami also had some hits on other platforms, but the company has been encouraged by the sales increase on the PlayStation 3 platform.

The company says that they will continue to focus on titles for the European and North American video game market.
