Comparisons between Storm and iPhone have started

It would
appear that AT&T is more than a little concerned about the possible impact of the soon-to-be-released BlackBerry Storm. The concern seems more centered around customers who maybe considering an iPhone, but might be lured away and look at the Storm for purchase, as well.

While we know that AT&T has been able to acquire a significant number of customers from the Verizon fold due to the fact that Verizon does not offer the iPhone, the pending release of the Storm is causing AT&T to make sure that their associates know the difference between the two mobile phones.

The document we saw that is said to be circulating focuses on features such as Multi-Touch, App Store, iTunes integration, Wi-Fi support, HSDPA world support, rich HTML Email support, and most of all what AT&T is claiming the clear “Ease of Use” factor; which they claim puts the iPhone ahead of the Storm.

While the document does make some valid points, they of course do not point out the positives that are in the Storm’s favor, including the fact that it is a BlackBerry and that it enjoys the same abilities that all BlackBerry devices do in handling Email, which continues to be the area where RIM enjoys a large lead.

We predict that the comparisons between the Storm and the iPhone will continue. From what we can see the features are a matter of opinion on what is important to the purchaser. Look for those who currently own or use BlackBerry devices to be very interested in what the Storm can do. We also suspect that we will see many Verizon BlackBerry Enterprise customers who start making the Storm available to users within their organization to help overcome the amount of iPhone envy that they have had to deal with since the iPhone’s release.
