720p format

The latest single-lens reflex camera camera from Nikon can shoot high definition movies in 720p format.

The D90 SLR, takes 12.3 megapixel stills, but can also shoot movies in the high-definition 720p format. It hits the shops in September and will set you back will $1,000 without a lens.

While compact digital cameras have had the ability to shoot movies they have fixed lenses and are of limited value.  SLRs have the advantage of better interchangeable lenses and more features available to the user.

The D90 can use its light-gathering sensor to work much better in low light. The down side is that it only can have mono sound.
