by on19 September 2014

Comes next month

Acer America has announced that it will be launching two XBO series monitors featuring Nvidia G-SYNC technology.

The Acer XB280HK is the flagship XBO display, boasting a 28-inch 4K2K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The runner up is the Acer XB270H with a 27-inch panel and a Full HD resolution (1920x1080) at 144Hz. Both monitors are coming with G-SYNC technology.

Acer delivers G-SYNC at 4K

Acer believes G-SYNC combined with its highly flexible ergonomic stand, non-glare ComfyView panel and low dimming technology can make very long gaming sessions enjoyable. The ErgoStand enables the screen to tilt from -5 to -35 degrees and the height can be raised by up to 5.9 inches. It can also rotate 120 degrees from left to right which might come in handy in some situations.

Both panels boast viewing angles of 170 degrees and up to 160 degrees, horizontal and vertical respectively.

The Acer XB280HK delivers 1.07 billion colours on its 4K panel, while the Acer XB270HL provides 16.7 million colours. Both panels offer a native contrast ratio of 1000:1, 300-nit brightness and a 72 percent NTSC colour saturation, a combination that is said to deliver exceptionally vibrant, detailed and high-quality imagery.

The displays come with DisplayPort as well as high speed USB 3.0 ports (1 up, 4 down) that are located on the side and bottom of monitor for ease of access. They are designed to conveniently handle peripheral like a mouse, keyboard, gaming headset, joystick and other devices. One of the USB ports is equipped for battery charging.

Pricing and availability

The Acer XB270H is available now at leading online retailers in the United States and Canada with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of 599USD and 649CAD.

The Acer XB280HK will be available next month with an MSRP of 799USD and 849CAD.

Both monitors will ship with a three-year warranty.

At this time there is no word on when we can expect to see them shipping in Europe and other markets, but some European shops have them listed for pre-orders with possible shipping date on October 10th.

We wonder what looks better, an ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q with a 2560x1440 panel at 144 Hz or an Acer XB280HK Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) at 60 Hz.
