Turtle Rock confirms October launch for Evolve

by on23 May 2014

Xbox One & PS4 performance will be the same

Evolve developer Turtle Rock has confirmed that their new shooter to be published and distributed by Take Two Interactive will be released on October 21st in North America and on October 24th in Europe. Turtle Rock, who are the development team best known for Left 4 Dead, will be marking a significant milestone with the release of Evolve which is their first release after leaving Valve to form their own studio.

The timing for the launch of Evolve is interesting as the October date puts the release of Evolve between destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and a rumored Battlefield release as well. Despite offering a Monster Expansion DLC pack to those that pre-order, one has to wonder with competitors that are both shooters on either side of it, will Evolve be able to attract enough attention despite the excellent buzz that the game has been generating so far.

Also in another interesting comment, Turtle Rock co-founder Chris Ashton has been quoted as saying that the performance of the game on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is pretty close to the same. Apparently there are some slight differences, but performance-wise it will be the same. While Turtle Rock has said that its goal was for the game to run at 60 fps, we still don’t know at what resolution the game will be running at, but the developers have said that parity between the platforms is important to them.
