Shocking iPhone tale down under

by on02 May 2014

Mate, that fanboy would not go Vroom if you put four million volts through it

Customs officers in Oz found a shocking number of iPhones which could be used to Taser fanboys to oblivion (which is a small town outside Alice Springs). More than 6,000 weapons arrived in the country from China, including a batch of fake iPhones that deliver electric shocks to stun attackers.

According to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service one of the devices with an instruction sheet describing it as the “iPhone 4 super ultra-electronic thin riot.” The device looks similar to an older iPhone with its super cool rounded rectangle design. However it was a fake which could deliver an electric shock from the top of the phone opposite the headphone jack. It made a change from the rest of the weapons cache which included brass knuckles, extendable batons and other shock devices.

A member of the public tipped off police in the state of Victoria to the shipment, which was then seized under a warrant by the customs agency. A 43-year-old man from Thomastown, Victoria was arrested. The man could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of $394,000. We guess he could also be sued by Apple for using its super cool rounded rectangle. After all a US patent court would certainly accept that Apple fanboys could be easily confused by the look of the stun gun and give themselves a nasty shock when they plugged in the phone to listen to their Coldplay collection.
