360 Titanfall release date slips

by on20 March 2014

More time needed to tweak things

In a surprise announcement, Electronic Arts studio EVP Patrick Soderlund announced that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall would miss its announced release date and its release would slip into April. In a short statement on his blog he simply said that Bluepoint Games (the developer of the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall) needed “a little more time” to tweak a few things.

Soderlund also added that he had been playing the game himself and it was fantastic. (Soderlund did not indicate on which platform he was playing the game however!)

He also added that “But we see a few things that can be made even better, so we are giving Bluepoint a little more time to just that and deliver the epic Titanfall experience for Xbox 360 players.”

It was also confirmed in his blog posting that the Xbox 360 version will have the same 6 vs. 6 gameplay, maps, modes, weapons, and Burn Cards as the Xbox One and PC versions do. It will get the same DLC and offers the same season pass as well from our understanding.

So the new release date for Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is now April 8th in North America and April 11th in Europe. Getting the 360 version of Titanfall right is essential as it is expected that the profit from Titanfall will be in the Xbox 360 release as there are just so many more consoles out there and it represents an outstanding chance for EA to cash in if they get the 360 version of Titanfall right. We think an additional week delay to give the developers more crunch time to get it right is the best decision for the title if they are able to get it right. There are a lot of dollars at stake.
