Return for reduced sentence

Hans Reiser, the Linux programmer who claimed he was innocent in the murder of his Russian wife, has now taken coppers to where he buried her.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Reiser took police to a site next to a deer trail in the hills of Oakland and human remains have been found. It is believed that Reiser showed the police as part of a sentencing arrangement.

A jury found Reiser, 44, guilty of first-degree murder in the 2006 killing of Nina Reiser, with whom he was undergoing a bitter divorce. Reiser developed ReiserFS file system software, which is available for Linux. The trial was the first to use the Geek defence, in which it was claimed that just because Reiser was odd, it didn't make him a murderer.

Unfortunately while it was true in principle, he was still a murderer.
