Too slow

Microsoft has been slammed for being slow to resolve problems in the technical documentation it was required to provide to rivals as part of its antitrust settlement.

A U.S. compliance hearing to see how Microsoft was doing in implementing its antitrust requirements heard how Redmond was as fast as an asthmatic snail climbing Mt. Everest and towing a caravan when it came to fixing technical documents. The Justice Department complained that Microsoft had acted too slowly in resolving technical information problems, known as "technical document issues," or TDIs.

Jay Himes, Chief of the New York Attorney General's Antitrust Bureau, said it took a  Microsoft employee one month to fix each problem. Microsoft spokesman, David Bowermaster, said there were 1,276 faults in the 20,000 page documentation and it was doing its best to fix them.
