Response from testers was overwhelming

Microsoft opened registration for the 2013 Xbox 360 Dashboard Update beta, and due to the overwhelming response from potential testers, registration is already closed.

The Xbox 360 2013 Dashboard update is said to include a number of performance enhancements, as well as the ability to use real world local currency for transactions as the big gains in this update. The ability to complete transactions using local currency is important going forward, as Microsoft is planning to retire Microsoft Points later this year.

While no information has been released as to when Microsoft is targeting the new dashboard update for release, sources say to expect it in the fall. Microsoft has not closed the door on the possibility of re-opening beta registration to add additional testers, but for the time being it remains closed.
