Overhaul of line-up
AMD formally released its new package of chips for laptops yesterday in a shakeup of its mobile line-up.
The new Turion brand processors, which will appear under the bonnet of the HP, Acer, and Toshiba machines, lean on ATI technology and were released at the Computex show this morning.
The Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core mobile processors, which come in clock speeds up to 2.4 Gigahertz, deliver three times better 3-D performance and five times better high-definition image quality than competing models because of the strength of its integrated graphics.
AMD also says its chips transmit high-definition videos and photos faster over wireless networks.
