Refresh with 20nm MLC NAND flash

OCZ has announced a new version of its Vertex 3 solid state drive, the Vertex 3.20 SSD. The new Vertex 3.20 uses 20nm NAND flash MLC chips and will be available in 120 and 240GB capacities.

The Vertex 3.20 also uses the LSI Sandforce SF-2200 controller which is now paired up with synchronous 20nm NAND flash and provides up to 550MB/s of read and up to 520MB/s of write bandwidth while random read and write performance are set at up to 35,000 and 65,000 IOPS. The 120GB version has slightly lower random read and write 4K performance set at 20,000 and 40,000 IOPS.

It still uses the same 2.5-inch standard design and features SATA 6Gbps interface. The entire series is backed by a 3-year warranty and, according to OCZ, the 480GB version will also be available at a later date.

Unfortunately, the price was not announced but a quick check with our sources in retail/e-tail puts it at around €100 for the 120GB model and €180 for the 240GB model.
