South Park Studios trying to stop title sale

Written by David Stellmack

Does not want THQ able to sell Stick of Truth

In an interesting turn of events, South Park Studios is attempting to stop THQ’s sale of the South Park Stick of Truth title. According to South Park Studios, the Deal Memo does not allow the transfer or use of the South Park IP by another company. THQ says that it is working on a consensual deal with South Park Studios and it wants the sale to proceed.

The THQ auction took place yesterday and we should know more about what actually happened this afternoon. From our understanding, THQ will only sell the titles individually if it receives bids that are more than the $60 million that is being offered by Clearlake Capital Group.

As we have told you, the entire process has attracted significant attention from a number of potential bidders; but based on what we are hearing, it is difficult to say what bidders could be after in the sale and what kind of money they are willing to spend to get their hands on these titles.
