Warfighter could struggle to sell 2 million copies

Creutz thinks it will be tough against Halo 4 & Black Ops 2

Industry analyst Doug Creutz of Cowen and Company thinks that Medal of Honor: Warfighter is going to struggle against the stiff competition from Halo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It could be difficult for Warfighter to sell 2 million copies, according to Creutz.

"While we believe Street expectations for MoH:W sales have moderated significantly, likely down to the 3-4MM unit range, we are concerned that those expectations may still be too high. Based on our read of pre-release tracking data, we think the game might struggle to sell through 2MM units worldwide," said Creutz.

We have to agree that the release window for Warfighter presents a difficult situation for the title. The window to sell it and get people playing it is very short when you look at the number of AAA titles that are coming in this same time period. The fact that Warfighter is coming with admission to the Battlefield 4 Beta will help the title; but the fact that early review copies were not given to reviewers isn’t going to help the situation.

We will have to see where things land, but the next 4 weeks are pretty jammed full of big time title releases, and we can only hope that Warfighter lives up to the numbers that EA thinks the title will do.
