Basically the new Nexus, codenamed GT-I9260, seems to be the lovechild of the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S III. It retains the 4.65-inch Super AMOLED screen of the previous Nexus, but it seems to pack the same cameras as the S III, 8 megapixels at the back and 1.9 megapixels at the front.
Oddly enough, the spec sheet indicates that the device will feature a memory card slot, which is not something we are used to seeing in Nexus devices. Like its predecessor, the GT-I9260 has 16GB of internal storage.
Now for some speculation. The new Nexus is said to feature a 1.5GHz dual-core A9 chip and we could be looking at a simple speed bump. However, let’s not forget that Qualcomm’s S4 is also a similarly clocked A9 part and it would make a lot of sense for the new Nexus, as it has on-chip LTE and it would allow Google to use the same chip in US and international versions, eliminating fragmentation.
We don’t know what to make of the leak, it could be legit, but then again it could be some fanboy’s wish list. In any case, Google seems keen to expand the Nexus lineup, so we could see Nexus devices out of Motorola and other manufacturers in the next upgrade cycle.
