Look for Respawn’s game in 2013

by on07 August 2012

2013 will be busy for the shooter market

2013 is shaping up to be the year of the first person shooter. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter is speculating that we will see Respawn’s first offering arrive in 2013. Respawn, which was formed by former Infinity Ward leaders Jason West and Vince Zampella, is perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited titles coming. Our sources agree that a 2013 launch is likely for what is a sci-fi oriented FPS title.

In addition to the new Respawn title, Activision will be releasing both a new Call of Duty title as well as the first offering from Bungie since its split from Microsoft. Called Project Destiny, little is known about this title, but it, too, is likely to arrive in 2013.

EA is going to be busy, as they will be promoting the new Respawn title as well as seeing DICE launch Battlefield 4, which promises to again deliver more of what Battlefield players want.

With all of these FPS titles launching and (we suspect) many of them in the same time frame, Pachter is speculating that it is going to cannibalize more of the Call of Duty sales numbers simply because consumers have more FPS choices.
