Samsung fails to lift ban on US tablet sales

Loses third legal spat in ten days


A US District Court has rejected Samsung’s bid to have a sales ban against its Galaxy Tab 10.1 lifted.

Samsung was originally slapped with the ban after Apple complained that it “slavishly” copied its iPad. The fact that the Galaxy Tab features a different aspect ratio screen, different OS and different hardware did not factor into the equation.

All in all it has been a pretty dire week for Samsung on the legal front. Apple also managed to win a temporary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus last week and it does not appear to be doing well in other cases filed by Apple, either.

Samsung said it was disappointed by the ruling to stay the injunction, while an Apple told Reuters that “blatant copying” is wrong and that Apple needs to protect its ideas.

At this point it seems Samsung would have a lot more success importing its gear into the US via Mexican drug cartels that the port of Long Beach.
