August 14th for Darksiders 2 release

Mid-August is a favorable release window


After pushing out the release of Darksiders 2 for what THQ calls, “…a demonstration of our commitment to quality,” the company confirmed during an investor conference call that the game will be released in mid-August.

The new release date will be August 14th in North America and August 17th in Europe. THQ believes that the new mid-August release date is a favorable release window for the title, based on discussions with retailers.

THQ says that pre-orders for Darksiders 2 are five times what they were for the first game, which is great news for the company as it really needs a big-time hit. THQ also confirmed that they will be spending twice the marketing dollars spent on the first Darksiders, which they hope will raise both its visibility and sales.
