AMD appoints John Byrne global accounts manager

Written by Fudzilla staff

Reshuffle continues

The AMD management reshuffle is dragging on like the GOP primaries, only without the entertaining debates.

AMD announced yesterday that industry veteran John Byrne has been appointed senior VP and general manager of global accounts, which is a newly created position at AMD. Byrne will be responsible for AMD’s worldwide sales and customer needs.

This translates into a lot of work and responsibility, but we believe Byrne is the right man for the job. Yes, we are biased, we like ex-ATI chaps and Byrne is the most senior ex-ATI guy at AMD right now.

For the time being Byrne will report directly to AMD CEO Rory Read, who spared no words of praise talking about his new global accounts manager. Hopefully Read’s reshuffle will pay off in the long run.
