Microsoft could be considering it
might be looking at ditching the Microsoft Points system the company has been using on the Xbox 360, Zune Market Place, Game for Windows Live, and Windows Phone 7. If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft will replace the points with actual currency.
If the stories are accurate, the company plans to make the move by the end of 2012. Currently, Microsoft is already using real-world currency for its Games on Demand via Xbox Live; making the jump would not be that difficult, as they already have the backend processes in place, it would appear.
Of course. as is customary, Microsoft isn’t talking.
