Asus readies 7-inch EeePad

by on03 January 2012

To be unveiled at CES

Asus is apparently planning to join the cheap and cheerful tablet market with a new 7-inch EeePad.

Following in the footsteps of Amazon and Barns and Noble, the new 7-incher should be somewhat cheaper than Asus’ 10-inch tablets, but then again at $299 it will cost $100 more than the Kindle Fire, or $50 more than the new Nook.

However, there is still no word on specs and it is quite possible that the EeePad will feature a bit more muscle under the bonnet. Asus was the first tablet maker to embrace Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 and it has a habit of packing its tablets with the latest tech. We doubt that this particular model will feature a Tegra 3 chip, but it could very well end up a tad more powerful than the Kindle Fire or Nook.
