The Star Wars The Old Republic MMO from Bioware might come out of the gate much stronger than some analysts initially expected. Doug Creutz, who is an analyst from Cowen & Company, speculates that the game might have as many as 1.5 million players already and the numbers could even be higher than that.

If 140 servers running last Saturday was any indication, Electronic Arts might see even bigger numbers once the game is launched later today. We have pinged other analysts who tell us that they are now rethinking the popularity potential of SWTOR based on these early estimates. It could be much bigger than expected.
