AMD already shipping 28nm GPUs

Written by Fudzilla staff

Everything on schedule, move along

AMD claims it is already shipping its first 28nm GPUs. We are not talking about mere samples, partners are getting the final product and they are expected to roll out the first cards in a few weeks.

AMD is planning to debut the new products at CES in January, a couple of months ahead of Nvidia. CEO Rory Read says TSMC is already ramping up production and AMD is “very excited” about the new generation. After a very uneventful year in the graphics industry, we have to admit we are all pretty excited.

However, it is worth noting that the long road to 28nm was hardly AMD’s, or Nvidia’s fault for that matter. The process simply didn’t mature on time, so both companies were forced to effectively push back the introduction of new GPUs for 2012.

Sweet. This is the biggest Radeon architecture change since the 2900XT. I can't wait for the reviews.

If only they had released them the first half of December they'd have sold a lot.

Well at least something 28nm is coming, but with the heavy dosage of console ports, video cards now are hardly even used more than 60 percent for most games, so their really isn't much need for these unless you might want lower power consumption or if you want to play a few games like battlefield 3 and crysis 2. where is Nvidia's cards?

Are you high on AMD's kool-aid? You only get an architechture change on 79xx series...78xx,77xx,76xx etc. are on VILW5,VILW4 tech. You [censored]ing AMD fag trolls never cease to amaze me...Now if it wasn't for my super precise knowledge to prove you wrong, many people would've bought 76xx etc thinking that is also new architechture whereas its just a dieshrink, & typical fag trolls on here will rate you higher now & me lower. Well [censored] me I don't care, AMD & it's BLACK SATANIC ACTIVITES will be EXPOSED & the TRUTH will PREVAIL! Thanks to Fudzilla staff & me & other non-biased commenters! Cheers!
